Entrepreneurship monitoring has attracted the attention of researchers, government, international organizations and investors. The role of start-up to the development of a country is increasingly confirmed through many research projects. The term of entrepreneurship monitoring (EM) started with different views depending on the approach. In this paper, EM will be analyzed on the access framework of the Global Entrepreneurship Research Association (GERA). The main objective of this analysis is to evaluate the EM of An Giang province basing on the evaluation vision of experts judgment via the approach framework from GERA. The research results showed that two factors of finance for start-up and education at high school are two barriers in entrepreneurship monitoring. On the contrary, the strengths are the dynamics of the domestic market, infrastructure and culture-social norms for start-ups. Based the result, this study recommended that An Giang should pay attention to some of the following policy groups as: [1] supporting capital for start- up and developing businesses; [2] increasing education and training on start-up skills in secondary and high school; and making priority policies to start a new business and start-up environment

Adaptation To Salinity Intrusion For Rice Farming Household In The Vietnamese Mekong Delta

    Get PDF
Agriculture has considerably been affected due to the increased salinity in recent years in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (VMD). The saline intrusion has increasingly caused problems to irrigation management, making it impossible to sustain the desired crop productivity. Rice farming are actually the most vulnerable as they have limited adaptive capacities and are more dependent on water for food production and other economic activities. This paper aims to understand how rice farming households responded to impacts of saline intrusion in the VMD, focusing the adaptive capacity and adaptation to saline intrusion at household level. The study showed that most rice farming households perceived the impacts of saline intrusion on their production activities, but only a few households prepared for adaptation options. Their decisions were not based on long-term saline intrusion impacts because households made decisions and changed farming practices due to economic factors and government policy support. The environment factors such as saline intrusion always came after economic and government policy factors. Government policy strongly affected production conditions of rice farming households through building irrigation, dyke and sluice gate systems. It means that change of production activities of rice farming households much more depended on government programs and development goals. Thus, households have fewer choices of production diversification away from rice farming

    Get PDF
An Giang province is located in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam, recognized as Vietnam’s Mecca for large Muslim population in Vietnam. This paper introduces the root of the Cham (Sunni) Muslims living in this southwestern part of Vietnam. The historical research and documentary research (in which relevant historical documents and articles were selected to review and comment) were utilized in the study. The paper shows some differences between the Cham Muslims in this region and the Hindu Chams (Balamon). More importantly, this paper indicates that the Chams in the Mekong Delta have had more mobile ways of life and a more highly regional integration in the ASEAN Community and a larger Muslim world rather than other Cham groups in Vietnam

Study on the variation of seagrass population in Coastal waters of Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam

    Get PDF
Khanh Hoa is among of a few coastal provinces where seagrasses are very abundant and form the large meadows in littoral zones, bays, lagoons. It is possible to consider that the coastal waters of Khanh Hoa has the most diverse of seagrass composition among areas of Vietnam. The investigation of seagrass beds in Khanh Hoa province (1996-1997) recorded 9 species of seagrasses, some of which were very interesting because of their large distribution areas, high density and biomass. Study on the variation of density, above ground biomass, leaf growth rate and leaf production of Enhalus acoroides and Thalassia hemprichii at two stations My Giang (Vanphong bay) and Dong Ba Thin (Camranh bay) were conducted two times per month in two years 1998, 1999. At My Giang station: the mean values of density and leaf production of E. acoroides were highest in September: 144±5shoots/m^2 and 5.96±0.3gDW/m^2/day, above ground biomass and leaf growth rate were highest in April 158±2gDW/m^2 and 1.57±0.2cm/day (March). The density of T. hemprichii was highest in May: 1050±30shoots/m^2, biomass was highest in October: 148±10gDW/m^2, leaf growth rate and leaf production were highest in September: 0.66±0.02cm/day and 5.55±0.3gDW/m^2/day. At Dong Ba Thin station: the mean values of density of E. acoroides was highest in November: 120±10shoots/m^2. The above ground biomass, leaf growth rate and leaf production were highest in September. The mean values were 383±15gDW/m^2, 1.8±0.2cm/day and 5.24±0.4gDW/m^2/day respectively. The density, biomass, leaf growth rate and leaf production of T. hemprichii were also highest in September, the mean values were 420±30 shoots/m^2, 110±10gDW/m^2, 0.66±0.05cm/day and 3.79±0.2gDW/m^2/day respectively. The studied results showed that the variation of density, above ground biomass, leaf growth rate and leaf production of seagrass beds depend on seasons in year and the environmental conditions. These values were often high in dry, sunny season (March-October) and often low in the rainy season (November-January). During the low tide (May-August) seagrass beds were exposed to the air that caused the decrease of density, biomass, leaf growth rate and leaf production of seagrasses

An effective RGB color selection for complex 3D object structure in scene graph systems

    Get PDF
The goal of this project is to develop a complete, fully detailed 3D interactive model of the human body and systems in the human body, and allow the user to interacts in 3D with all the elements of that system, to teach students about human anatomy. Some organs, which contain a lot of details about a particular anatomy, need to be accurately and fully described in minute detail, such as the brain, lungs, liver and heart. These organs are need have all the detailed descriptions of the medical information needed to learn how to do surgery on them, and should allow the user to add careful and precise marking to indicate the operative landmarks on the surgery location. Adding so many different items of information is challenging when the area to which the information needs to be attached is very detailed and overlaps with all kinds of other medical information related to the area. Existing methods to tag areas was not allowing us sufficient locations to attach the information to. Our solution combines a variety of tagging methods, which use the marking method by selecting the RGB color area that is drawn in the texture, on the complex 3D object structure. Then, it relies on those RGB color codes to tag IDs and create relational tables that store the related information about the specific areas of the anatomy. With this method of marking, it is possible to use the entire set of color values (R, G, B) to identify a set of anatomic regions, and this also makes it possible to define multiple overlapping regions

Forages Improve Livelihoods of Smallholder Farmers with Beef Cattle in South Central Coastal Vietnam

    Get PDF
In South Central Coastal Vietnam, on-farm research and farmer experience demonstrated the benefits of growing improved forages as a means of improving the year round quantity and quality of feed available for beef cattle. In Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Ninh Thuan provinces, five new forage species (Panicum maximum, cv. TD58, Brachiaria hybrid cv. Mulato II, Pennisetum purpureum cv.VA06, Paspalum atratum cv. Terenos and Stylosanthes guianensis cv. CIAT 184) were evaluated for yield and crude protein concentration. There was not a consistent yield difference between locations for the forage grasses, but in Binh Dinh province P. maximum TD58 produced the highest yield. The grasses were comparable in crude protein concentration. Stylo CIAT 184 performed relatively well and had the highest crude protein concentration. All species have potential use, depending on the circumstances and site factors such as fertility, drainage and availability of irrigation. This work was expanded to a total of 45 farmers to gain feedback on farmer experience in growing different forages. The percentage of farmers who “liked” the introduced forages was Mulato II, 92%; TD58, 85%; VA06, 82%; Paspalum, 46%; and Stylo, 36%. By far the most important early socio-economic impact of developing perennial forage plots close to households was an average 50% reduction in the amount of labour and time that farmers spend supplying cut and carry forage to their animals. In addition, the growing of forages can meaningfully reduce the grazing pressure on common grazing lands, thereby lowering the potential for environmental degradation
